Louisa Rose (Chair)
Louisa Rose has a long and illustrious career in the Australian wine industry, most prominently as former Chief Winemaker of Yalumba where she remains as Head of Sustainability and Brand Ambassador. Louisa has also been an active member of the scientific community joining the ASVO in 1991 and has championed technical innovation across the wine industry. Rose has won many awards for her work: 1999 Barossa Winemaker of the Year, 2004 International Woman in Wine (London IWSC), 2008 Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine Winemaker of the Year and 2013 Winemaker of the Year by the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology. In 2017 Rose was named a Fellow of the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology. Louisa Rose is Chair of the Board and will also head up the technical committee for The Australian Ark Foundation.
Andrew Caillard MW
Andrew Caillard MW is a multi-award winning Master of Wine and has worked with many leading wine businesses in Australia, Europe and Asia over his career. He is best known as a co-founder of Australian wine auction house Langton’s, as an advocate for Australia’s fine wine agenda and his creation of the Langton’s Classification. Andrew has written over ten books, including The Australian Ark which won the inaugural OIV President’s Award, a National Trust Heritage Award and the André Simon Award. In 2025 Andrew received the IWSC Wine Communicator Trophy, was crowned Australian Wine Communicator of the Year for the second time and won the Maurice O’Shea Award for his significant long-term contribution to the Australian wine industry. Andrew is a patron of The Australian Ark Foundation.
Dr Dylan Grigg
Dylan Grigg is a viticulturist, vigneron and consultant who holds a PhD in grapevine age from the University of Adelaide, Halliday Wine Companion's 2026 Viticulturist of the Year and winner of the McWilliam's Excellence in Action Award for his work on Australia's old vines. Over nearly two decades Dylan has been advising on vineyards across Australia, Spain and California, and keeps his feet on the ground farming his own old vine Grenache vineyard in Vine Vale under the Vinya Vella label
Nick Dry
Nick Dry is an accomplished viticulturist with over two decades of experience in the Australian wine industry. While managing Yalumba Nursery (2008-2019), Nick developed an extensive knowledge of variety, clone, and rootstock performance, alongside a deep technical understanding of germplasm management, nursery practices, grapevine viruses, and trunk diseases. In November 2019, he founded his own consultancy business, Foundation Viticulture, where he handles diverse projects ranging from planting and propagation supply chain strategies to technical communications. Nickcurrently has a role as the National Grapevine Collection coordinator for Wine Australia.
Rob Sutherland
Rob Sutherland is the viticulturist at De Bortoli Wines in the Yarra Valley with over 30 years experience in vineyards in North East Victoria and the Yarra. In 2026, he was inducted into the Yarra Valley Hall of Fame for his work on phylloxera education and initiatives to protect vine material extinction. Rob is also an amateur viticulture historian with a Victorian focus.
Dr Anthony Borneman
Anthony Borneman is a Research Manager at the Australian Wine Research Institute and an Affiliate of the University of Adelaide. He leads research that is focused on applying genomics to understand the genetic basis of biological diversity in winemaking, including grapevine varieties and clones, commercial wine yeast and bacteria and the microbiota of wild ferments.
